Telogis Releases Next Generation Geospatial Platform: Telogis GeoBase 3.8

ALISO VIEJO, CA  - Telogis,Inc., the platform for location intelligence, has announced the availability of Telogis GeoBase 3.8, the latest release of the geospatial mapping software used by thousands of developers around the world for location-based application development.

“This release further cements our position as the leading provider of tools that can be used to add location intelligence across the enterprise quickly and easily,” said Jeff Fiore, director, sales engineering and product management, Telogis. “This next generation of Telogis GeoBase continues our focus on reducing development time for our customers and offering advanced features that can't be found in competitive offerings.”

Speed, scalability and ease-of-use remain the top design goals of the Telogis GeoBase platform as Telogis adds exciting new features and support for the newest programming standards. Version 3.8 includes a new WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) map control and improvements to the JavaScript API that take advantage of powerful HTML5 features.

Telogis has taken note of an increasing trend among enterprise developers who want to integrate geospatial data stored in legacy databases or in the cloud and has responded by providing tools that enable them to leverage that data from within their Telogis GeoBase applications.  Examples of this include an elegant and fast way to spatially index and query data in third-party relational databases, such as Oracle, and support for WMS (Web Map Service) map layers. Developers can now easily add WMS layers to their application from a wide range of providers including NASA, TerraServer and OpenStreetMap.

“Telogis GeoBase is being rapidly adopted among the world’s largest supply chain management and courier service companies. Telogis Geobase 3.8 meets the needs of this demanding class of customers with new and specialized features that help to accelerate global deployments as well as provide even faster speeds and more flexibility,” says Fiore.

Additional advancements include an improved map style, smarter reverse geocoding, numerous navigation-related enhancements and simpler access for proxy connections. Telogis GeoBase 3.8 is now available for download from dev.telogis.com.

Telogis Acquires Maptuit® Business, Industry Leader in Commercial Vehicle Navigation

Alisoviejo, CA - Telogis, Inc., the platform for location intelligence, announces the acquisition of the assets of Maptuit®, a leading provider of connected navigation for commercial fleets. This acquisition — the company’s fifth in three years — expands Telogis’ services as the market increases adoption of location-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. Maptuit’s commercial navigation technologies further enhance the Telogis enterprise platform of SaaS solutions, which includes fleet management, navigation, multi-vehicle route optimization and planning, work order management and mobile integration.

“This acquisition adds a new dimension to our platform,” said Newth Morris, president, Telogis Route and Telogis Mobile. “With these advances, Telogis further differentiates itself in the market by providing the most comprehensive suite of location intelligence solutions on a single platform.”

Enhancements to the Telogis platform resulting from this acquisition include an advanced location-based service (LBS) engine that receives feedback from the field on road conditions and physical restrictions that may not be captured by commercial and open source map data. These capabilities are critical not only to the commercial navigation markets where Maptuit has been successful, but also to industries such as mining, and oil and gas, which operate in remote regions where map data coverage is limited.

Maptuit’s technologies also allow companies to specify “known-good” routes and yard-approaches. These capabilities help companies improve the safety of route operations and are increasingly important in international markets where bonded routes exist.

Telogis will integrate Maptuit’s technologies directly into its enterprise platform, thereby expanding the Telogis customer base by more than 100,000 subscribers.

“The commercial navigation technologies that Maptuit has revolutionized will enhance all of the applications on our platform —route planning, navigation, execution analytics —and position our company to best handle the growing location intelligence needs of companies worldwide,” said Morris. “This acquisition complements the Telogis platform with a unique set of high-value capabilities that allow companies to dramatically transform their operations, improve safety and lower operating costs.”

This latest acquisition by Telogis marks a continuing growth pattern for the company, as it has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in Orange County, Calif., by the Orange County Business Journal, and the 123rd fastest growing company in North America on the Deloitte 2011 Technology Fast 500 (866 percent growth since 2006), and was listed for the fifth straight year on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the country (434 percent growth from 2007 to 2010). The company has further been honored as one of the best workplaces in the region, and forged a major partnership in 2011 that made Telogis the exclusive SaaS solution for Ford Motor Company’s Crew Chief™ commercial vehicle telematics system.

Telogis Takes Driver Safety to the Next Level with Telogis Driver Scorecard

Telogis Inc., the platform for location intelligence, further enhances its driver safety capabilities with the introduction of Telogis Driver Scorecard™ — part of the Telogis Fleet Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) fleet management system — to more easily manage and communicate the behaviors that directly influence driver and asset safety. Telogis Driver Scorecard offers the most extensive metrics available to fleets today to identify risky driving behaviors, improve safety, and reduce the time and costs associated with accidents. The platform’s safety scorecard leverages InSight Alerts to trend driver behavior over time to positively impact safety and driver behavior trends.

Telogis Fleet is part of the Telogis platform of SaaS location intelligence solutions that includes Telogis Route, Telogis Progression and Telogis Mobile — making Telogis the only company that provides fleet management, multi-vehicle route optimization and planning, work order management and mobile integration on a single enterprise platform.

“With Telogis Driver Scorecard, we’re able to configure the scorecard to the needs of each fleet,” says Sean McCormick, product manager, Telogis Fleet. “From standard metrics to configurable weightings, we’re able to identify risky driving behavior. With the combination of Driver Scorecards, real-time alerts, and enterprise dashboards, Telogis enables companies to create better safe driving awareness programs and sustainable driving pattern changes, resulting in significantly improved safety.”

Telogis Driver Scorecard reports on activities critical to driver safety: hard braking, hard acceleration, excessive speeding, speeding vs. posted speed limit, after-hours use, and seatbelt use. Reports are configurable to show daily, weekly and monthly trends. InSight Alerts can also be programmed for real-time feedback to supervisors. Being able to measure and ensure that your fleet exhibits safe driving behaviors is valuable for potential insurance discounts, as well as to reduce workers compensation claims (avoiding accidents by pinpointing safety concerns), and to improve vehicle maintenance.

“If you’re simply monitoring driver violations, that doesn’t tell the whole story because a driver may still be exhibiting risky behavior.” says McCormick. “ By implementing the Telogis Driver Scorecard, you can enhance your safety initiatives with real-time, actionable information leading to greater total safety along with a reduction in costs associated with bad driving.”

Telogis Introduces Telogis Fleet 9

Telogis, the platform for location intelligence, introduces Telogis Fleet 9: the industry’s most reliable and scalable fleet management software. Telogis’ Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) fleet management system drives rapid return on investment for fleets of all sizes through improved productivity and operational streamlining. Telogis Fleet 9 provides businesses with new configurable reporting and alerting options designed to allow the fleet manager to tailor the system to their specific needs, as well as advanced asset utilization and security capabilities that ensure the productivity and protection of high-value assets.   These new elements build on a platform that already offers a wide range of tools to better manage a compay’s mobile assets, including real-time traffic and weather, fuel card management, advanced compliance reporting, extensive vehicle histories and personnel management functions. Telogis Fleet 9 supports a variety of vehicle and equipment types, and integrates seamlessly with Telogis Route, Telogis Progression and Telogis Mobile to providestrategic and dynamic routing, real-time work order management, telematics and mobile integration on a single platform.
“The next generation of Telogis Fleet is designed to give the user a completely unique fleet management experience that best aligns with their business needs,” says Sean McCormick, product manager, Telogis. “Other applications on the market provide more rigid reporting and alerting mechanisms that leave the organization confined to the functions that the system offers. With Telogis Fleet 9, we are putting that power into the user’s hands by providing tools that allow easy and fast customization, and offer visually relevant information and data.”
Telogis Fleet 9 features new configurable reporting functions and settings designed to tailor the system to each unique business model. Key new capabilities include:
  • Ad Hoc Reporting—Telematics systems gather data that is not always relevant to every organization. Telogis Fleet 9 and Ad Hoc Reporting allow the user to define the data elements that they want to see and to organize them in a way that is the most logical way for their operation. Backed by the massive computing power of the Telogis Cloud, Telogis Fleet 9 is able to create and run these reports in real time.
  • Terminology Module—Every organization has its own jargon and terminology. Telogis Fleet 9 lets the user go into the system and rename key terms to match internal nomenclature (“driver” becomes “field technician,” “Van 1” becomes “Regional Route 1,” etc.).
  • InSight Alerting Engine—The new Telogis Fleet 9 InSight alerting engine allows the user to create unique alerts based on almost every piece of data that the system collects. For instance, when a vehicle’s windshield wipers are turned on, an alert can be sent to the fleet manager that it is currently raining at the vehicle’s location.
  • Layers—Layers allows organizations to quickly and easily integrate unique GIS layer data into Telogis Fleet. This means that users can easily locate relevant locations in their company infrastructure that do not appear on standard maps, such as power poles, oil wells, gas and water lines, land use grids, and forestry and parcel data.
Telogis Fleet 9 also benefits from the new advanced features of Telogis Asset, including asset-specific alerts and reporting functions that provide greater visibility as to how each asset is being used in the field. Users have the ability to view all assets in a single view, customize data by asset type and integrate that information into larger fleet-wide reports — an especially important feature in large, mixed fleets (trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, site equipment). Advanced loss prevention and utilization monitoring tools also protect assets from theft and misuse.
“Telogis’ asset solution not only ensures the security of your high-value assets, it also helps eliminate replacement costs, damages, and higher insurance premiums,” says Jeffrey Cohen, vice president, Asset & Security Solutions, Telogis. “It also allows companies to maximize asset utilization and optimally deploy resources based on real-time information that shows how vehicles, equipment and tools are being used in the field.”
